State Day 3 - BRIGETTE WINS 800!
Coming from behind on the home straight after leading the 1st lap, Brigette became the 1st Liberty Girls State Track Champion in a running event, breaking her week old school record by 2 secs, racing to a 2:13.50 under warm sunny skies. Sophie took 6th in the 300 hurdles then Jake Knoblich medaled with a 3rd in the 3200, followed by Sam Kelderman in the Girls 3200 in 4th. The Boys 1600 relay had the lead at the last exchange and Zeke held on for 6th despite a strained hamstring.

State Day 2 - Sophie was 4th in the 100 hurdles in Liberty's only finals on Day 2. Brigette won her heat of the 800 and Marissa ran a personal best 200 but did not advance. Andrew Ha tied his personal best in the 300H but just missed moving on.
State Day 1- Brigette Takeuchi led the 1600 from the gun until 200 to go as she sprinted home in 2nd place. Sophie Wartena broke to 100H record again, running 15:36w in the prelims. The Boys 1600R moved on to Sat. finals, the girls 1600R just missed out. Also just missing finals was Brooke Ury in the 100H with her season's best 15:88
5-19 - Dist. Day 2 - Brigette & Sophie broke School records winning their races as the Girls claimed the District crown. Brigette ran a 2:15.73 for 800m and Sophie ran 45.18 for the 300 hurdles as the both ran on the 4x400 team that had to race twice to claim the 3rd and last spot to State. Sophie had won the 100 hurdles earlier.
Also moving on are Jake Knoblich - 3rd in the 3200, Marissa Mills - 3rd in the 200, Sam Kelderman and Kelsey Takeuchi, 2nd & 3rd in the 3200, Brooke Ury -3rd in 100 hurdles, Andrew Ha - 2nd in 300 hurdles, Zeke Owens - 2nd in the 400 and the Boys 4x400 team of Zeke, Chris Hanson, Cam Roberson and Caleb Carr who were 1st in the finals.
Also moving on are Jake Knoblich - 3rd in the 3200, Marissa Mills - 3rd in the 200, Sam Kelderman and Kelsey Takeuchi, 2nd & 3rd in the 3200, Brooke Ury -3rd in 100 hurdles, Andrew Ha - 2nd in 300 hurdles, Zeke Owens - 2nd in the 400 and the Boys 4x400 team of Zeke, Chris Hanson, Cam Roberson and Caleb Carr who were 1st in the finals.
5-17 - District 1/2 - Brigette Takeuchi crushed her 1600 school record dipping under 5min. for the 1st time to take the District title in 4:56.33. Jake Knoblich ran a PR in the 1600 as well just missing a spot to State with the 3200 coming on Fri. Moving on to Fri. were Sophie Wartena in the hurdles, the Boys 400 & 1600 relay teams & the Girls 1600 relay team. Maliah Stewart had a huge personal best 111' 4" Javelin throw to just miss the top 3 spot for State qualifying.
5-10 & 12 - Sno-King SubDist - Both the Girls & Boys took the team titles @ Cedarcrest in the Dist. qualifier.
4-29-17 - LW / Shoreline Invites - Sophie Wartena took down the oldest Track record, breaking the 100 hurdle time set in 1995 by running 15.42. Brigette, Kelsey, Dhaman & Sam took 3rd in the 4x800 relay. For the boys, a number of personal bests were set.
4-28-17 - Brooks/Liberty Distance Twilight Meet - The meet was a great success for a 1st year event, the weather was perfect for racing with temps in the 50's, no wind or rain. Thanks again to Brooks & the Balanced Athlete, lots of Run Happy signs were waved and more than half of all runners had Personal Bests recorded.
Samantha Kelderman shattered the school record in the 3200 (Sam was named Liberty Female Athlete of the year on Tues), taking 2nd in 10:52.38 with Kelsey Takeuchi also dipping under 11:00 in 4th @ 10:57.66. Huge PR's were also set by Mehul & Alex Chin the 3200 and Luke Knoblich, Alex Hartford and Dhaman Kuar in the 1600.
4-27-17 - Redmond @ Home - Seniors were honored with a great show of parent support.
4-22-17 - Mt. Si Invite - Sam Kelderman won her 2nd Invite title with a big pr of 5:06 in the 1600m. Sophie Wartena took him 3 2nd place medals, 100H, 300H and anchor for the Girls 4x400 team. Cameron Roberson tied for 2nd in HJ and Jake was 4th in the 1600.
4-20-17 - The Boys & Girls remained undefeated in their 1st home dual meet.
4-15-17 - Brigette lowered the school record in the 1600 by racing a 4:41.79 1500 @ Oregon Relays with a WA state leading time. That converts to a 5:02.5!
4-8-17 - Arnie Young - Sam & Brigette went 1-2 in the 3200 right after Jake took 2nd in his 3200 to lead the Patriots on a windy day. Both Jake & Sam set personal bests along with Ryan Kirschner, 3rd in High Jump, Kelsey Takeuchi 2nd in 1600 and Dhaman Kuar 4th in the 800.
4-6-17 @ MI - Brigette Takeuchi broke record #3 for the year in the 800, running 2:18.7. Sophie Wartena took 1st in 3 races and many athletes had season or personal bests on another Sunny Thursday.
4-1-17 - The Liberty Invite was a great success with the rain deciding to stop after an early appearance. Thanks to all our Volunteers who made this meet run smoothly and end before the Gonzaga game was over. Meet records were set by Kelsey Takeuchi & Jake Knoblich who both won their 3200 races. 2-25 - Brigette Takeuchi broke the school record for the 1600, running (converted from 1500) 5:03.38 at an All-Comers meet in San Francisco.

Day 3 - ANDREW COOPER WINS 3200!
On a cold, windy Day 3, Andrew ran a tactical race before a last lap surge from Sehome's Johnson put him behind by 20 meters with 200 to go. With a strong kick into the wind on the home straight, Andrew became Liberty's 1st Track Champion in a individual running event. Liberty has produced 2 Gold medal 4x4 teams and Jumps winners in previous years but had not had a Track victor until yesterday. Andrew's win was the highlight that saw Sophie Wartena anchoring the Girls 800M relay team (Gabbie Owens, Taylor Mulqueeny, Marissa Mills, Sophie) to a 5th place finish then coming back to take 3rd in the 300 hurdles in a lifetime best just .07 seconds off the school record. Nate Solly also ran a lifetime best in the 300 hurdles for 4th before leading off the 1600 relay team (Nate, Chris Hanson, Cam Roberson, Zeke Owens) which placed 6th. Brigette Takeuchi took 4th in the 3200 for the girls. Also competing in the 3200's were Sophie Lindstrom, Carlyn Schmidgall, Nick Seigfried & Sean Szymanski. Overall the Boys team was 9th and the Girls were 11th.

Sophie took 7th in the 100H finals after breaking the school record earlier in the day in the 300 hurdles in the prelims, moving to finals along with Nate. Also competing were Taylor K in Jav, Kelli in High Jump and Marissa in the 400.

Brigette broke the school record for 3rd and Andrew took 2nd in the 1600's with both running lifetime bests. The Boys 4x4 team moved on to finals along with the Girls 4x2 team. Also competing Fri were Carlyn & Tyra in the 1600.

Nate took 3rd in the 110H & 300H with another 3rd coming from Marissa in the 400. The Girls ended the meet with a 1600 relay (Gabbie, Taylor M, Marissa, Sophie) victory after the Boys (Nate, Chris, Cam, Zeke) ran their seasons best for 4th. Also moving on to State were Kelli in the High Jump and Taylor K in the Jav. For Distance, the 3200 saw Liberty get lifetime bests from 5 of 7 boys and Sean & Nick qualifying for the 1st State meet and Carlyn & Sophia joining Brigette for the girls. Sub-District - 5-13 - Brigette & Andrew Double Winners - Both ran conservative races until 2 laps to go and broke away for the win. The Girls put together a winning 4x400 team and the Boys ran their best time for 2nd. In the 3200's, the boys qualified all 7 runners to Dist, the girls got 6 of 7 moving on to Bremerton. Including alternates, 40 LHS athletes are sched to compete at Dist. Top 6 move on to State.
5-12 - Andrew & Brigette win 1600 on Day 1. On another! sunny day, LHS saw a number of lifetime bests: Nate in the 110H, Cam in the 400, Arthur for Jav, Gabbie in Triple, Taylor & Marissa in the 400, Sophie in the 100H, Sophia L in the 1600 and Katie B & Meliah in the Jav.
5-5 - Senior Day vs. LW - The regular season ended with another sunny day, probably a record for nice meets for LHS. A great big thanks to Mrs. Siegfried & Mrs. Solly for the gift bags and all our Parent volunteers who made the meet run smoothly. A number of athletes set personal bests as they looked to move on to Sub-Dist. next Thurs/Fri.
4-30 - Shoreline / Lake Wash Invites - Cameron Nelson - 100 & 200 - set 2 personal bests and Andrew Cooper - 3200 , Jake & Luke Knoblich - 1600 did the same for the boys at the last Invite of the season.
4-28 - Interlake - Another nice day for Track.
4-23 - Mt. Si Invite - No rain or wind led to personal bests for almost every Liberty athlete, with Andrew Cooper winning the 1600 & Nate Solly taking 1st in the 110 hurdles and 2nd in the 300 hurdles.
4-21 - @ Juanita - Brigette Takeuchi set the 1st school record of the season, breaking Carlyn's 2015 best in the 3200, running 11:14.95. After a hot week, the weather cooled and a number of personal bests were set with Soloman Knapp improving 20' and Taylor Krzycki breaking 100' in the Jav and Luke Knoblich edging Alex Hartford in the Freshman 1600.

3-26 - Liberty Invite
The Invite was a huge success due to our parent volunteers and perfect racing weather. Thanks to all who stepped up and made this a great meet.
Issaquah Boys & Girls won team titles with the Liberty Boys taking home the 2nd Place trophy. Andrew Cooper won the 1600 & 3200 to lead the Boys and Sophia Lindstrom won the 3200 for the only Liberty victory for the girls, with Cameron Nelson picking up two indiv. 2nds, a relay 2nd and 3rd.
